Hello, I’d like to add sub-titles in English and then translate the following video into Spanish:
Stories of Activism with Thay & Sr Chan Khong - Interview with Masako Yamanouchi
The interview is on the app but not available to caption on Amara. Could someone please let me know what I need to do or who to contact?
I watched this video and it’s about Ms. Yamaouchi meeting Thay when she was very young (by coincidence) and how they went out to a mall together, and she asked him what Buddhism means, and he explained it in a way that she understood and remembers even today. It’s a wonderful interview full of warmth and valuable recollections of Thay (as a younger man).
Dear Tanya,
Thank you very much for vonlunteering your precious time and skills to support everyone in this meaningful work ![]()
I checked the video you mentioned and realized that this video is an exclusive content from the online course “Who Is Thich Nhat Hanh?” hosted in Deer Park Monastery, hence it is not available anywhere else, except the “Who Is Thich Nhat Hanh?” course platform and the Plum Village App.
This video touches me deeply personally so I understand your inspiration to subtitle it in Spanish. It is unfortunate that due to this above reason, the video is currently not available on the App’s Youtube channel, which is tied to Amara for subtitling in other languages.
For videos like this, I would suggest that you incoporate the materials into your daily mindfulness practice to benefit from them, and at the same time look for other videos with captioning options available on Amara to continue offering your Spanish subtitles to everyone.
Thank you very much again for your work ![]()
May life be kind to you today,
Tuyen
Dear Tuyen,
Thank you so much for your prompt reply.
I didn’t realise it’s exclusive content, many apologies. I remember watching it on YouTube when the course was live and public, and liking it very much, so when I saw it as an option to caption, I chose it immediately.
But seeing as it is not possible to caption for now, I’ve started adding sub-titles in English to “(Class #15) Recognizing Conditions of Happiness” instead. I also attended most of these classes when they were live, and I’m finding it very comforting and heart-warming to listen to dear Brother Phap Lu’u teaching these lessons again.
It’s easier for me to transcribe into English first, and then translate into Spanish. It flows better for me with this system, though it might seem like the long way round.
Thank you again for answering me so quickly.
With appreciation,
Tanya
