Dear subtitle contributors,
I would like to share a video screen recording from our Portuguese contributor @Carolina_Marinho
She offers this video showing how she uses AI to assist with the process of creating subtitles in her language (Portuguese) from the English subtitles.
Since AI is a sensitive topic and people have different views on it, we want to be clear that subtitle creation for Plum Village App is a human-led process, with AI used only as a supportive tool (optionally). To ensure a high-quality experience for everyone, all subtitles on the Plum Village App and the YouTube channel should be created and carefully reviewed by a native speaker or someone highly fluent in the language.
Please note that we do not use fully AI-generated subtitles β human care and insight are essential in this practice.
With that said, here is the link to the screen recording: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Xfl0L1FkUCHtEaQMTPXEXqmW-SkqSgaS/view?usp=sharing
Here are some additional notes from Carolina to support the video:
- ChatGPT can only perform translations of subtitles of videos up to 7/8 minutes. What I do as a workaround is batches of texts (the video shows that) and copy the translation to one file. For videos of 20β I divide the text in three.
- Itβs important to review the translation provided since it might have some mistakes.
- In the end, you need to copy the timing to match the original translation
I hope this is helpful for some people. There is no requirement to use AI when creating subtitles but you may like to try, as it can speed up the process.
